Eat where Ajman eats

Ajman was named the Middle East’s best emerging tourism destination for 2026, and entry to every museum in the emirate is free until the end of the year. If you are coming for the fort, the Corniche or the beach, this is where to eat in between, and what it actually costs.

  • Breakfast from 7:30 am
  • Most dishes AED 10 to AED 35
  • Four to five km inland from the Corniche

The honest version of where to eat in Ajman

Almost every “best restaurants in Ajman” list points at the Corniche. That is fair enough: the seafront is four kilometres of promenade with hotels along it, and the view is genuinely good. But you are paying for the view, and the food on a hotel terrace in Ajman is largely the same food you would get on a hotel terrace anywhere else in the Emirates.

The food that is specific to this city is inland, in the Sanaiya, where most of the people who live and work in Ajman actually eat. It is not a scenic neighbourhood. It is workshops, spare parts yards and the restaurants that feed the people in them, which is exactly why the cooking has to be good and the prices have to be honest.

What to order, and what it costs

Fitting it around the sightseeing

Before the fort. Ajman Museum is inside the old fort in the city centre and is best in the morning, before the heat. We open at half past seven, which is early enough to eat properly first. Entry to the museum is free until the end of 2026.

After the Corniche. The seafront is at its best at sunset. The kitchen runs until midnight, and the charcoal grill is at its best in the evening, so eating after a walk along the promenade works better than eating before one.

On the way back to Dubai or Sharjah. We are inland, towards Emirates Road, which means stopping here on the way out of Ajman costs you very little detour.

Practical things visitors ask

All the meat is halal. There is no alcohol on the premises and no pork is handled anywhere in the kitchen. Cash and card are both accepted. There is free street parking directly outside and the restaurant is on the ground floor with step free access. We answer in English, Urdu, Hindi and Arabic, and nobody will mind if you ask what something is before you order it.

Questions visitors ask

Where should I eat in Ajman if I am visiting for the day?
The Corniche has the view and the hotel restaurants. For the food the city actually eats, head inland to Ajman Industrial Area 2, about four and a half kilometres from the seafront. Zafran Kitchen on Amman Street serves Pakistani and Mughlai food from 7:30 am to midnight, with a full breakfast around AED 12 to AED 15 and most main dishes between AED 10 and AED 35.
What is a typical Pakistani breakfast to try in the UAE?
Mutton paya, which is trotters simmered overnight until the stock turns silky, or beef nihari, a slow cooked shank stew finished with ginger, green chilli and lemon. Both are AED 10 at Zafran Kitchen. Eat either with a paratha at AED 1 to AED 2 and a karak chai at AED 1.
How far is Zafran Kitchen from Ajman Museum and the Corniche?
Roughly four to five kilometres inland from both, which is a short drive. Ajman Museum sits in the old fort in the city centre and the Corniche runs along the seafront beside it. The restaurant is on Amman Street in Ajman Industrial Area 2, near Nesto Hypermarket.
Is it suitable for tourists who have not eaten Pakistani food before?
Yes. Ask for the chicken white handi at AED 26 or the mutton white karahi at AED 32 for a half, both of which are rich but carry no chilli heat. Tell the counter if you want anything milder and the kitchen will cook it that way, because dishes go on the fire after you order them.
Is Ajman worth visiting?
Ajman was named the Middle East's Best Emerging Tourism Destination at the World Travel Awards for 2026, and the emirate has made entry to all of its museums free until the end of 2026. It is about half an hour from Sharjah and under an hour from most of Dubai.
